Volunteer With Us
As an entirely non-profit organisation, volunteers are the lifeblood of Lifeline Foundation. They form the backbone of our service—a compassionate network of individuals committed to one mission: providing emotional support and preventing suicide.
India is facing a mental health crisis; there were over 171,000 suicide deaths in 2022. More than 1 in 7 Indians suffer from mental disorders, and approximately 80% cannot access proper mental healthcare. We face a stark shortage of trained professionals: India has just 0.7 psychiatrists per 100,000 people, far below the recommended 3 per 100,000. Thus, most people in distress have nowhere to turn.
Trained volunteers of Lifeline Foundation are essential to towards filling this critical gap by offering free, immediate, anonymous emotional support through our helplines.
Why Join Us
At Lifeline Foundation, you don’t just volunteer—you become part of a mission that saves lives, one conversation at a time.
In a world where mental distress is often silenced or ignored, your presence as a calm, compassionate listener can offer someone their first moment of hope. When you join us, you step into a legacy of service that has supported thousands over the years—quietly, respectfully, and powerfully.
Here’s why people choose to volunteer with us:
•Make a Meaningful Impact: Every call you take can be the turning point in someone’s life.
•Be Part of Something Larger: You join a close-knit community of like-minded individuals dedicated to empathy, humanity, and service.
•Grow Through Giving: Our volunteers often describe their journey with Lifeline as personally transformative—offering insight, resilience, and a deeper understanding of self and others.
•Receive Ongoing Support: We offer comprehensive training, regular supervision, and a culture of care to ensure that you’re supported as you support others.
•Champion a Cause That Matters: With mental health needs rising sharply and access remaining limited, your contribution helps bridge a gap where professional help often isn’t available.
This is not charity. This is solidarity. If you believe in the quiet power of listening, and that no one should suffer alone, join us.
